FAQ's For Provider

As a provider you may have questions about IPN. To help answer as many questions as possible in an efficient manner, IPN has compiled it's most frequently asked questions.

IPN Participating Provider FAQ's

How can I become an IPN Participating Provider?

You can either call IPN at (866) IPN-1076, (208) 333-1513 or by email at ipn@ipnmd.com.

What are the benefits of joining IPN?

Participating Providers receive direct reimbursement from IPN's payors for services rendered to their members.

Participating Providers may also have access to value-added services such as group discounts on malpractice insurance and medical supplies.

A single Participating Provider Agreement with IPN allows Providers to participate with over 83 IPN contracted payors/employers. Any changes to your practice will be forwarded to these payors upon receipt by IPN.

Office staff can access IPN's provider relations education and claims assistance services.

Once I have submitted a completed credentialing application, how long does it take to go through the credentialing process?

IPN's credentialing process normally takes approximately 8 weeks to complete. Your office will receive written notification upon approval.

What do we need to do when a new provider joins our group?

If your group is contracting with IPN under a group agreement it will be necessary for new providers to complete an Idaho Practitioner Credentials Verifications Application and send to IPN with the practiontier's current malpractice insurance face sheet and DEA certificate. The form is available in the Provider Section of this website. You may also call IPN and request the the application be mailed or faxed to your office. Upon IPN's receipt of the application your office will receive written confirmation of the contracting effective date for the new provider.

If providers in your office or clinic contract with IPN on an individual basis, it will be necessary for additional providers to contact an IPN Provider Representative to initiate the contracting process. If eligible, your office will receive written confirmation of the contracting effective date.

How does our office access IPN forms on the website?

You may access IPN forms on the website by selecting IPN Provider on the menu bar and then select Provider Section. You will need to enter your user name and password that has been assigned to you by IPN. If you do not have a user name or password, select Contact IPN and send an email to IPN at ipn@ipnmd.com with your office information.

Who should our office contact regarding a change of telephone number, address, or tax identification number?

IPN requires written documentation of such changes to ensure accuracy of it's Provider records. For your convenience, you can obtain a Provider Information/Change Form in the Provider Section of this website. The form can be printed and mailed or faxed to IPN at:

Southwest Idaho Providers:
Idaho Physicians Network
800 Park Boulevard, Suite 760
Boise, Idaho 83712
Fax: (208) 433-4602

North Idaho and Southeast Idaho Providers:
Idaho Physicians Network
901 Pier View Dr., Suite 209
Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402-3601
Fax: (208) 522-1366

Who should our office contact for a patient's eligibility, benefits, claims status, or care management?

Because IPN is not an insurance company, it will be necessary for your office to contact your patient's insurance company directly to obtain this information. The back of the patient's medical identification card indicates a customer service telephone number for eligibility and benefits along with an address for claims submission. If there is no contact information on the back of the patient's medical identification card or you do not have a copy of the card, please refer to the IPN Payor List for the appropriate customer service telephone number. The IPN Payor List can be found on this website by selecting IPN Provider on the menu bar and then selecting the Provider Section.

How do I know which payors are contracted with IPN?

You can obtain this information online by reviewing the IPN Payor List in the Provider Section of this website.

Where does our office submit claims for IPN Payors?

Please refer to the back of the patient's medical identification card for the claims submission address. The card will either instruct you to send the claim directly to the payor or to IPN for repricing. IPN will forward claims to the payor for processing after they have been repriced.

Which billing form is acceptable to IPN's payors?

The standard billing form for professional claims is the CMS 1500 and the UB-04 for facilities. Please follow the standard billing instructions and utilize the most current versions of CPT procedure and ICD diagnosis codes. Handwritten or faxed claims cannot be accepted by IPN as they do not provide the clarity required by IPN's scanning equipment.

Does IPN accept electronic claims for repricing?

Yes, IPN accepts claims electronically through the following clearinghouses and payor identification number.

Clearinghouse and IPN Payor Id Number
Availity (Previously THIN) = PRIME
Blue Cross of Idaho = PRIME
Emdeon = 82048
McKesson = 2729

It will also be necessary to enter specific insurance company, TPA or employer. These specific payor numbers can be found on the IPN Payor List.

Do any of IPN's payors accept electronic claims?

Many of IPN's payors accept electronic claims. Please contact your software vendor or electronic claims clearinghouse to inquire about which payors accept electronic claims. Remember to check the patient's medical identification card or the IPN Payor List to verify if these claims must first be sent to IPN for repricing.

Does my office need to complete or obtain a referral, preauthorization or precertification for healthcare services?

While most benefit plans that use IPN do not require a referral, some plans require preauthorization and/or precertification for certain types of medical care. Contact the customer service department listed on the patient's identification card for more information.

How do I find out about IPN's allowances for certain procedures?

You may enter up to twenty procedure codes, along with your charges, using the Fee Comparison form found in the Provider Section of this website and mail or fax to IPN. Once received, IPN will enter the allowances and return the form to your office.

Does IPN offer IPN education to office staff?

IPN staff schedules orientation visits with newly contracted provider offices, conducts annual provider seminars and is available for telephone education on an as-needed basis. If your office would like to contact an IPN Provider Relations Representative please call (866) IPN-1076, (208) 333-1550 or by email at ipn@ipnmd.com
