About IPN
History

Idaho Physicians Network, (IPN) was incorporated in 1993 by Boise-area physicians who came together to contract with insurers. In December 1998, Primary Health, Inc. and IPN merged their physician networks to create the largest multi-specialty clinics in Idaho employing ninety-six physicians working in seventeen sites throughout southwest Idaho. In addition to the clinics Primary Health also contracted with over 235 physicians to make up its physician referral network for its own managed care insurance plan, (Primary Health Network) and for its 40,000 members who leased the network.

In early 2000, the decision was made to create a statewide medical delivery network consisting of physicians, ancillary providers, and facilities to better serve the needs of Primary Health Network members and members of its leased network. Today, IPN has become the fastest growing health care delivery system in the state of Idaho. In August, 2009, PacificSource Health Plans acquired Primary Health Network, Inc. Through this transaction, Primary Health Network, Inc. and Riverside Benefits Administrators (now known as PacificSource Administrators) became wholly-owned subsidiaries and acquired a sixty-percent interest in IPN while forty-percent is retained by independent physician shareholders.

Providers contracting with IPN can expect excellent customer service, a simplified contracting and credentialing process, plus extensive training through office education meetings, newsletters, email bulletins and provider workshops. Using one contract, providers are able to have access to over 80 national payors, third-party administrators, as well as local and state insurers. Payors who choose IPN as their network for their Idaho members can expect a stringent credentialing program, quality physicians, flexible contract and claims re-pricing terms, and an extensive statewide network.

TODAY

IPN offers statewide access to over 8,000 participating health care professionals throughout Idaho. IPN contracts with employers, insurance companies and third party administrators to provide over 170,000 members access to a high quality, cost efficient network while at the same time providing excellent customer service to clients.
